1. News media can freely cover the 2020 General Election on 8 November in line with the existing laws, bylaws, rules, media ethics and electoral guidelines for media.

 

2. Each local media organization will be allowed four persons for covering news at the townships of respective district where the general elections take place.

 

3. In applying for press identity card to cover election news, the following rules have been set out for media personnel:

(a) Local media personnel need to submit approval letter of their organizations for covering the elections to the relevant district election sub-commission. If they want to cover the election in more than one district, applications must be submitted to those district election sub-commissions;

(b) Local private media personnel need to attach the approval letter of media organization they work for in submitting their applications to the relevant district commissions. If they want to cover the election in more than one district, applications must be submitted to those district election sub-commissions;

(c) International media organizations need to submit their applications to the Ministry of Information. The Union Election Commission will issue the press identity cards to the organizations or individuals for international media organizations approved by the ministry.

 

4. Application of press identity cards for election coverage can be made not later than 23 October 2020.
