THE Steering Committee of Myanmar-UK Partnership for Education was held via video conferencing at the Ministry of Education in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.

Union Minister for Education Dr Myo Thein Gyi, Deputy Minister U Win Maw Tun, the Directors-General, the Deputy Directors-General, officials of Department for International Development (DFID) and other organizations joined the meeting.

Firstly, the Union Minister said Myanmar-UK Partnership Education was initiated in 2019 and received significant achievements in May 2020. It has been two years and is expected for the positive results and futures, said the Union Minister, adding his appreciation on the TREE (Towards Results in Education and English) project as it conducts online courses on inclusive education for improving the English skills of teachers and instructors during COVID- 19 pandemic.

The Union Minister said that his office is preparing for conducting PPTT (Pre-Service Primary Teacher Training) course, helping in five prioritized sectors under AERS (Assessment and Education Reform Support) and assisting in conducting researches under EELC (Evidence Evaluation Learning Component).

UK Department for International Development (DFID) Head of Office Dr Rurik Marsden and Deputy Head of Office Mr Will Niblett also said words of thanks.

During the meeting, they discussed Myanmar-UK Partnership for Education related matters like TREE, AERS, EELC, Learning Together, MEC (Myanmar Education Consortium) and STEM (Strengthening pre-service Teacher Education and Myanmar) and processes for National Education Strategic Plan (2021-2030).
