A virtual ceremony to present information management system and e-services businesses that are jointly implemented by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population’s Social Security Board and International Labour Organization was held from the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

Speaking at the event, Union Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population U Thein Swe said that most people in the world have obstacles to economic and social development as they don’t have proper social protection.

All countries are making a long-term plan to strengthen the current social protection system so that all people can enjoy social protection rights.

In his New Year Message, President U Win Myint said that social security fund in the short term would be effectively managed for the wellbeing of the labourers.

Social Security Board, in line with social insurance, developed a strategy to cover all nationals in social security project and was providing effective services of social security and healthcare for the labourers who are the main power of the country in accordance with Social Security Law 2012.

The board, in cooperation with the government, employers and employees and with technical assistance from ILO, was working on IT reform, medial reform, administrative reform and legal reform for a better medical service which are necessary for employers and employees.

A social security project that covers about 1.34 million labourers in 116 townships was also implemented with three Workers’ Hospitals, 78 branch offices, 96 township clinics, 58 department clinics, 8 clinics with free for services payment, 10 clinics with capitation payment, 1 traditional medicine clinic and 2 mobile clinics.

For real-time information flow, the social security board was implementing SSB Information System’s e-services – SSB Mobile Application, SSB Website, e-Contribution, e-Benefit and e-Mail Server systems.

The board was cooperating with Central Bank of Myanmar, Myanma Economic Bank and private banks so that the contribution of employers and employees can be made via e-payment, he added.

He stressed the importance of abiding by respective departments’ guidelines, directives and financial rules in implementing SSB information system.

He expressed thanks to the officials from ILO and ILO-Korea Project and relevant ministries for their assistance for SSB information system.

ILO Liaison Officer Mr Donglin Li made a remark, and the Director-General of the Social Security Board explained the annual performance of the board.

After the Union Minister made the remark, the meeting was concluded.

The Deputy Minister, Directors-General, Deputy Directors-General, Directors, ILO officials and members of technical groups participated in the virtual event.
