The Ministry of Education organized a coordination meeting with the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, its partnered associations and individuals from the public-private partnership to discuss drafting the National Education Strategic Plan (2021-2030) yesterday morning via videoconferencing.

At the meeting, Union Minister Dr Myo Thein Gyi explained education reforms in accordance with the Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan, the Future of Education and Skills 2030 adopted by Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the OECD Learning Compass 2030 Report, the World Bank and the report of UNESCO.

He added that reforms are aimed for developing an education system without any discrimination and with opportunities for life-long learning, the nature of mankind and cooperation, accountability and creation, research development, the public-private partnership between the schools and industries. The Union Minister also discussed the levels of education under the national education standard framework, cooperation between public schools and private schools and organizations for life-long learning, the need of high-level skill for ensuring quality products and services in line with the changing technologies, laws and regulations.

He also remarked that the private sector should establish organizations to support formal education, vocational education, higher-level education and research, while programmes for reskilling, upskilling and continuous professional development are required for new employees.

The Union Minister also highlighted the importance of basic research, applied research, public-private sector, university-industry partner relations technology transfers and intellectual property right, the blended learning comprised with high-tech learning and high-touch learning, and credit transfer system in switching levels under the National Qualifications Framework. He continued to say the phase 2 of NESP is designed to promote skills of ethnic young persons for their future employment opportunities.

The permanent secretary and directors-general of the ministry discussed the respective sectors. The NESP (2021-2030) includes success and challenges of the previous phase, its goals, education for economic development, basic education, technology, vocational and training, higher education, research, innovation, management, cooperation, capacity building and quality guarantees, while the topics also cover enrolment opportunities at different levels of education, curriculum, teaching-learning, evaluation, management and quality guarantees, finance and international partnered associations.
