THE emergency and outpatient departments of Lashio General Hospital in northern Shan State reopened at 8 am on 5 May and are providing treatments to patients, according to locals.

“I am very happy that the hospital has reopened. I thank all the doctors and staff,” said a local.

On that day, the hospital treated 96 patients: 73 females, including 39 pregnant women, and 23 male patients, according to the Ministry of Health.

“Anyway, government hospitals are better. People have to pay a lot of money for a visit to the private clinic. I am pregnant and it cost me K 100,000 today visiting a private clinic,” said a local woman.

The outpatient department of the hospital is open from 8 am to 12 noon and from 1 pm to 5 pm. It will also inform the public in advance about the vaccination schedule for children and the medicines that will be available, a source close to the Lashio Hospital said.
