NATIONAL Security Adviser and Union Minister for the State Administration Council Chairman’s Office Ministry 1 Admiral Moe Aung met and encouraged students preparing to retake the 2025 matriculation examination at several high schools in Mandalay Region on 6 May.
The Union minister visited No 3 and No 1 Basic Education High Schools in Kyaukse, Basic Education High School in Singu, No 16 and No 1 Basic Education High Schools in Chanayethazan Township. He met with university lecturers, teachers and students who are currently conduct intensive exam preparation programmes at these schools.
During his remarks, the Union minister said the earthquake was an unexpected natural disaster, and praised the courage and determination of students who have returned to their studies. He also acknowledged the encouragement of parents, the dedication of teachers, and the systematic efforts of regional officials. He expressed confidence that the students, with such resilience, would be able to successfully pass the Grade 12 matriculation examination. He also encouraged them to become future leaders who will serve the interests of the country, people, and religion. He then presented snacks and essential supplies to the students.
Later, the Union minister and the delegation inspected arrangements for the students’ food, health and safe learning environment. Officials reported that 94 per cent of eligible students have already re-enrolled in the exam programme and that efforts are ongoing to help the remaining six per cent rejoin. He instructed local authorities to continue supporting those efforts.
Afterwards, the Union minister visited Mandalay Masoeyein monastery, which had been damaged by the earthquake, and donated supplies. He also held a coordination meeting with regional officials regarding the status of students retaking the matric exam during the earthquake recovery period.
