MINISTRY of Commerce hosted the 2/2020 meeting of Myanmar Competition Commission yesterday morning in Nay Pyi Taw.

Union Minister for Commerce Dr Than Myint, in his capacity as the Chairman of the MCC, said the importance of the competition authorities in trying to find the best way to operate businesses in both during the COVID-19 period and the post-COVID-19 period.

He added the prohibition of manipulating the market price of essential commodities under the competition law while the government is also providing support and easing restrictions for a limited period of time, depending on the situation, to the cooperation of businesses produced health-promoting and essential products during the COVID-19 period.

The Union Minister urged to revise the guidelines and procedures required for the Commission in this period by regularly coordinating with relevant organizations and business associations. The commission members and officials discussed the implementation of the decisions on (1/2020) meeting, resolving received complaints and further plans and cooperation.
