THE Kayah State government is leveraging up to repair the buildings of Loikaw University that were damaged by the terrorist attacks to reopen as soon as possible since 22 January. State Chief Minister U Zaw Myo Tin, accompanied by Tatmadaw members, members of the State government office and departmental officials visited Loikaw University yesterday morning to inspect the cleaning and improvement work carried out on the University campus and the upgrading of the asphalt concrete pavement on the Loikaw-Lawpita Road.
The Kayah State chief minister and other officials first looked over the cleaning and repair works of Loikaw University to reopen. Loikaw University’s head engineer briefed the update on the operations. The state’s chief minister urged all parties to use caution when performing the duties to worker safety and to work together methodically to expedite any necessary repairs.
He also visited the Loikaw-Lawpita Road (3.5 kilometres long, 18 feet wide) upgrade project from asphalt to asphalt-concrete (AC) and inspected the 100 per cent completion of the Loikaw-Lawpita Road Well Graded Layer (8 inches), 3.5 kilometres long, 20 feet wide road project and the progress sites of asphalt concrete (AC) road paving, hard shoulder paving and roadside drainage excavation. The Deputy Director of the State Road Department explained in detail the completion of the work and the ongoing work. The Kayah State chief minister directed that the work site be safe, meet the specified standards, ensure good drainage, and allow people to travel normally during the road construction work and that the road be used after the completion of the work, traffic accidents, The officials were instructed to systematically monitor and coordinate the necessary measures to ensure road safety.
The Loikaw-Lawpita asphalt concrete road (3.5) kilometres long is being built with the State government’s funds for the 2024-2025 financial year. If the road is completed, the people of Ma Htaw Khu village tract, Lawpita village tract in Lawpita Town and the residents of Baluchaung Hydropower Plant (Lawpita) will be able to travel faster and smoother than before.
