THE government cares for its citizens abroad and assists them if they face hardships. It also recused its citizens stranded in conflicts between Israel and Hamas in time. Similarly, the citizens stranded in Iraq were repatriated and arrived back in Yangon on a Baghdad-Dubai- Bangkok-Yangon flight yesterday evening.

Daw Wai Wai Latt (Assistant Director, Department of Rehabilitation)

Our department set five work plans, and the three returnees from Iraq are also our citizens. Therefore, the Department of Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement welcomed them.

Ma Honey Tun (Sittway)

I am from Sittway. I went to Baghdad, Iraq, for job purposes. When I faced various difficulties, I wanted to return to my country. While I was facing such challenges, the Myanmar Embassy and officials repatriated us bearing the costs. I would like to express my gratitude to the officials for repatriating us while we face hardships in foreign countries. I arrived back thanks to the government officials. I thank them. Ma Myat Aye San (Ponnagyun)

I am happy and sad simultaneously when the flight landed at Yangon International Airport. I did not think I would return to Myanmar and meet my parents and relatives again. I am in serious condition in Iraq. I want to thank all the governmental officials, other relevant embassy officials, and those who welcome us.

Ma Than Nwe Htay (MraukU)

I worked in Dubai and moved to Iraq. I faced hardships in Iraq as the people have no positive mindset like Myanmar. I arrive here as the government brings us bearing the costs. I thank the government officials, staff of the Myanmar Embassy, and those who help us for our return.
