(a)There are currently no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Myanmar. The majority of patients, who have been tested, show no signs of severe symptoms and have been discharged from their hospitals.
(b)The Ministry of Health and Sports is emphasizing on protection and containment measures in the spirit of the motto, “Prevention is better than cure”, and against the virus that could possibly enter the nation at any time. The ministry aims to prevent a single citizen from contracting COVID-19 and for a zero-mortality rate.
(c)Large-scale public gatherings and events have highly potential to transmit viruses faster, and they are being limited as precautionary measures.
(d)People currently quarantined at designated locations are healthy individuals with no confirmed cases yet. They are quarantined so as to administer medical care if symptoms start to develop and to contain the spread of the virus.
(e)MoHS is strictly administering at international airports in order to prevent the virus from entering the nation. This virus has a rapid transmission rate and preventive measures are necessary.
(f)The public is urged to regularly check for updates and information concerning the virus on the ministry’s Website (www.mohs.gov.mm) and its Facebook page (www.facebook.com/MinistryOfHealthAndSportsMyanmar).
(g) The public is formally requested to discontinue sharing rumours and misinformation. Severe legal action will be taken against those continuing to do so.
(h)The public is urged to remain calm and alert, and to closely follow guidelines issued by MoHS.
