State Security and Peace Commission Vice-Chairman, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, and Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win visited the Defence Services Orthopaedic Hosiptal (500-bed) and the Defence Services General Hospital (1,000-bed) in Mingaladon Township of Yangon Region yesterday morning and comforted Tatmadaw members receiving medical treatment at the special care centres of the hospitals and inspected Myanmar Thakaung Advanced War Veterans’ Housing (Laydauntkan).
At the Defence Services Orthopaedic Hospital (500-bed) and the Defence Services General Hospital (1,000-bed), the Vice-Senior General asked about injuries and diseases of Tatmadaw members individually and presented foodstuffs and utensils.

After inspecting the hospitals and these compounds, the Vice-Senior General presented cash awards for health staff serving at the hospitals through the hospital commandants.

Daw Than Than Nwe, the wife of the Vice-Senior General, comforted pregnant women at the Defence Services Obstetric, Gynaecological and Children’s Hospital (300-bed) in Mingaladon Township and gave foodstuffs. She also presented cash for the hospital through the hospital commandant. She also donated cash to the medical trust fund of the hospital through the commandant.

At the briefing hall of the Myanmar Thakaung Advanced War Veterans’ Housing (Laydauntkan) in Dagon Myothit (South) Township, the Vice-Senior General heard reports on progress of construction for housing, settlement of war veterans, accomplishment of the guidance given by the Head of State, paving the asphalt concrete road in the housing area, construction of gravel-filled drains, plots for operating agriculture and livestock activities and building the market, park and playgrounds, and supply of water and electricity.
The Vice-Senior General gave instructions on the proper flow of water in the housing compound, management for the convenience of residents in education, health, accommodation, food supply, transport and administrative measures, and creation of employment opportunities for the residents of the housing.

He inspected completed buildings in the compound, apartments of war veterans and their families, and raised 350 layers in the evaporated fully automatic system in the compound.
The Vice-Senior General provided nutritious foodstuffs and cash assistance to children of the pre-primary school opened in the compound and viewed around the housing compound.
At the construction site of the Shopping Complex near the war veterans’ housing, the Vice-Senior General heard reports on the implementation of the project, formation of a quality control team, water and power supply and efforts to complete the project on schedule.
The Vice-Senior General instructed that when inspecting buildings, the QC team needs to assess the resilience of buildings to natural disasters not merely through visual inspection but by conducting measurements and tests using modern resilience-testing technologies and equipment. In addition, he stressed that preparations should be undertaken to systematically plant fast-growing trees and shade- and windbreak-providing plants from now on to ensure a green and pleasant environment around the shopping complex. Furthermore, he added that arrangements must be made to ensure the proper and systematic disposal of wastewater and food waste generated by restaurants.
