THE government of Myanmar manages a combined team comprising security forces, adminis-trative bodies, and local authorities to raid illegal buildings in the Shwe Kokko and KK Park areas, where telecom fraud and online gambling activities are operated. The team systematically dismantles the confiscated materials and illegal buildings used in online scams and gam-bling activities.

Yesterday, the authorities demolished 16 more illegal buildings in Section 3 of KK Park area.So far, a total of 429 buildings out of 635 illegal buildings have so far been demolished in the KK Park area.

The combined team started searching operations in Myawady and its vicinity on 8 December. The combine teams have also inspected six one-storey buildings, four two-storey buildings, 20 three-storey buildings and six four-storey buildings in Myawady and the surrounding areas yesterday, confirming that no illegal foreign residents or online gambling activities were found.

To prevent reuse of the materials in online scams and gambling activities in KK Park and Shwe Kokko areas in Myawady in the future, the seized materials were incinerated systematically.

The government considers the eradication of telecom fraud and online gambling crimes as a national responsibility and, to ensure that such activities can no longer operate within Myanmar, will continue its efforts in coordination not only with domestic forces but also with the governments of neighbouring countries.
