The 79th Anniversary of Shan State Day Ceremony was held at the Awayyar Balloon Field in Taunggyi at 8 am yesterday. The ceremony was attended by Member of the State Security and Peace Commission and Union Minister for Border Affairs and for Ethnic Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin, Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung, Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Myo Thein Kyaw, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Soe Win, Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung, the commander of the Eastern Command, the chief justice of the State High Court, state ministers, the State advocate-general, the secretary of the Shan State government, officials from state, district and township-level departments, social organizations, ethnic literary and cultural groups, ward administrators, and residents.

At the ceremony, a message sent by Senior General Thadoe Maha Thray Sithu Thadoe Thiri Thudhamma Min Aung Hlaing, Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, on the 79th Anniversary of Shan State Day was read out by Member of the State Security and Peace Commission and Union Minister for Border Affairs and for Ethnic Affairs Lt-Gen Thiri Pyanchi Sithu Yar Pyae. The Shan State chief minister, Zeya Kyaw Htin Sithu U Aung Aung, also delivered a speech.

Following this, the opening ceremony of the 79th Anniversary of Shan State Day Exhibition was held and officially inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting by Member of the State Security and Peace Commission and Union Minister Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, Union Ministers U Tin Oo Lwin, U Min Naung, Dr Myo Thein Kyaw and Dr Soe Win, Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung, and Commander of the Eastern Command Brig-Gen Kyaw Naing Oo.

Afterwards, Member of the State Security and Peace Commission and Union Minister Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, together with officials, presented awards to the Shan Cultural Troupe, the Silae ethnic group, the Nationality Literature and Culture troupe, and the ribbon-cutting and tray-holding groups. He then toured ethnic traditional food booths, departmental booths, company booths, MSME booths, and ethnic traditional clothing booths.
Later, the Shan State chief minister delivered an opening speech at the 79th Shan State Day Commemoration and Award-Giving Ceremony held at the Taunggyi City Hall.

Certificates and awards were then presented to individuals, organizations and civil servants who had contributed to development and administration in Shan State. Union ministers presented awards to one Panglong Gonyi Award recipient, 41 Management Excellence Award winners (first, second and third classes), and eight Security and Law Enforcement Excellence Award winners (second and third classes).

The Shan State chief minister and the commander of the Eastern Command presented certificates and awards to Security and Law Enforcement Excellence Award (third class) recipients. The chief justice of the State High Court, state ministers, the State advocate-general and the secretary of the Shan State government presented awards to Social Excellence Award recipients (first and second classes).

At the Training School for Development of Nationalities Youth from Border Areas in Saikkhaung, Pa-O Self-Administered Zone, Shan State (South), the Union minister addressed the school’s needs after receiving clarifications from the principals of the training school and the Vocational Training Centre for the Women.

The Union minister stated that the Ministry is implementing policies to ensure peace and stability in border areas, improve the socioeconomic conditions of ethnic communities, and develop human resources among ethnic youth. He emphasized that, as youth are vital to the nation’s future, they must be trained to manage their time effectively, develop good health habits, and grow into reliable citizens for their regions, states and the country. He added that students should be trained to build physical strength, intelligence and reasoning skills.

He then inspected the dormitories, dining hall, library, cleanliness and landscaping of the school compound, as well as the cultivation of seasonal crops.

Subsequently, he inspected students at the Vocational Training Centre for the Women in Saikkhaung, observing practical sewing of modern fashionable shirts, and inspected the dormitory, dining hall, seasonal crop cultivation, and the raising of layers to meet daily needs.
In the evening, Union Minister Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and his delegation attended the 79th Shan State Day dinner held at the Awayyar Balloon Field in Taunggyi. The Shan State chief minister delivered a speech of thanks, and attendees enjoyed performances by ethnic traditional dance groups.
