Under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat the illicit trade are continued effectively by the law.

On 1 and 2 December, the combined teams impounded two unregistered vehicles worth K16 million in Kalay township, illegal timbers worth K651,840 in DaikU and Kyaukdaga townships, an unregistered vehicle worth K8 million at the Ayeyawady Bridge combined checkpoint in Magway township, a mobile phone with currency notes worth K163,400, which is used for gambling in Aunglan township and an unregistered vehicle and an unregistered motorbike valued at K12 million in Ye and Bilin townships. The action was conducted under the Forest Law, the Gambling Law and the Export/Import Law.

Additionally, on the same day, the joint on-duty teams confiscated the electronics and industrial materials worth K87.471 million without official documents from two containers at the Thilawa Port, consumer goods worth K33.05 million without official documents from a passenger’s luggage at the Yangon International Airport and industrial materials valued at K3.329 million without official documents at the Yangon International Airport (Warehouse). The action was taken per Customs procedures.

The Steering Committee reported 12 seizures on 1 and 2 December, seizing illegal goods worth approximately K160 million.

Also, on 30 November and 2 and 3 December, the combined teams seized foodstuffs, consumer goods valued at K3.9 million without official documents at the Yadanabon Bridge combined checkpoint, two unregistered motorbikes worth K2 million in Shwebo and Kalay townships, illegal teak and other timbers worth K8.144 million in Ottwin Township, an unregistered vehicle worth K7 million in Waw Township, illegal diesel worth K714,850 at the Yadanabon Bridge (Hnapauk) checkpoint in Mandalay, illegal timbers valued at K102,000 in Ngaputaw and Thaboung townships, an unregistered motorbike valued at K400,000 in Hinthada Township and industrial materials worth K5.171 million without official documents from a container at the Asia World Port. The action was taken under the Petroleum and Petroleum Products Law, the Forest Law, the Export/Import Law, and Customs procedures.

The Steering Committee reported 11 seizures worth K27.43 million on 30 November and 2 and 3 December.
